Jurgen Klopp, the well-known German football manager, has reportedly signed a new contract with Red Bull to become the Global Head of Soccer, according to Sky Germany.
This marks a significant change in Klopp’s career following his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season, where he had a highly successful nine-year run.
During his time at Liverpool, Klopp led the team to major victories, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles, solidifying his status as one of the club’s greatest managers.
Initially, Klopp stepped away from Liverpool to take a break from the pressures of football management. However, he is now ready to return to the sport in a different role.
Beginning in 2025, Klopp will oversee multiple Red Bull football teams, focusing on their strategic direction rather than traditional on-field management.
As Global Head of Soccer, Klopp will act as an advisor to Red Bull’s clubs, including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, and Red Bull Bragantino.
He will guide these teams in areas like coaching, management, player development, and recruitment. This new position will challenge him to adopt a broader perspective on football operations across several clubs instead of just one.
While Klopp is excited about this opportunity, reports indicate that his contract allows him the option to pursue the Germany national team coaching position if it becomes available. He has been linked to that role recently, suggesting he may opt for it instead of returning to club management soon.
The details of his contract with Red Bull, including its duration, haven’t been disclosed, but it does provide him with the flexibility to return to coaching if he wishes.
Additionally, Klopp’s new role will bring him back together with Pep Lijnders, his former assistant at Liverpool, who is currently coaching Red Bull Salzburg.
