Barcelona’s 17-year-old defender Pau Cubarsí recently shared his pick for the best player in the world during an interview with SPORT. Surprisingly, he named Rodri, who does not play for Barcelona.
For Cubarsí, the standout midfielder from Manchester City, Rodri, is currently the top player worldwide. After an impressive season with both his club and national team, Rodri has emerged as a frontrunner for the upcoming Ballon d’Or, making Cubarsí’s choice understandable.
Sadly, Rodri is currently out due to an ACL injury, which means he will miss the remainder of the season, creating a significant gap for both Manchester City and the Spanish national team.
In the same interview, Cubarsí also talked about other football topics, including naming a Barcelona player who is particularly skilled in one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper.
