Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that his potential move to Manchester United remains uncertain. Sporting CP confirmed on Tuesday that United expressed interest in activating the Portuguese manager’s release clause for €10 million, following Erik ten Hag’s anticipated departure from Old Trafford.
Despite receiving a contract extension in July, Ten Hag lost support due to a series of poor performances that left United at their lowest point in Premier League history.
On Monday, United officially parted ways with Ten Hag, leaving the team in 14th place in the league. Amorim quickly became the top candidate to take over, having demonstrated his capabilities in Liga Portugal.
However, Amorim stated that his future with United is not yet settled, emphasizing that he will make a decision based on his personal ambitions. At a press conference on Tuesday, he remarked, “Listen to the club statement, and that’s all there is for now.
Manchester United have shown interest in paying my clause, and once something concrete arises, I’ll decide. Ultimately, it will be my choice, as long as all factors haven’t been fully clarified.”
He added, “I’ll do what I want to do, just as I always have as a player and manager. At this moment, no decision has been made.”
