Gabriel Jesus’ resolve to remain at Arsenal and fight for his spot in the starting lineup has received strong backing from manager Mikel Arteta, who has outlined his final transfer strategy.
Despite concerns about injuries, the £65 million acquisition of Kai Havertz, and significant transfer offers from Saudi Arabia, it was initially thought that Jesus might leave Arsenal this summer.
Nevertheless, the 27-year-old began the season with a determination to prove himself and secure regular first-team minutes under Arteta.
His persistence appears to have paid off, as Jesus played a crucial role in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Wolves on the opening day.
Following the match, it was confirmed that the Brazilian forward remains central to Arteta’s plans, and the club does not seem to be pursuing a new striker.
Reports indicate that Jesus is determined to fight for his place at Arsenal despite rumored £60 million offers from Saudi Pro League teams.
Arteta has recognized and rewarded Jesus’ ambition, expressing satisfaction with his current attacking options after the opening-day victory.
In an interview with TalkSPORT, Arteta explained, “I have faith in [Havertz], we have faith in [Gabriel Jesus], and Leandro [Trossard] has also played in that position.
We have various qualities in our squad, and the best approach is to trust our players and help them improve. They are talented and committed, and that’s where our focus lies.”
Arteta had previously praised Jesus for his hard work and improvement during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Jesus stood out in a 2-1 win over Manchester United, and Arteta highlighted the Brazilian’s commitment to enhancing his physical condition over the summer.
“He looks really sharp,” Arteta said after Jesus scored the equalizer against United. “He has changed a lot of things during the break and returned in top condition.
When a player has that solid foundation, you can build on it. Without it, they can’t perform at their best. He’s realized that, and I’m very pleased with what he’s shown.”
