Barcelona target Arsenal’s Thomas Partey as contract nears expiration

Barcelona is closely monitoring Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey as his contract nears its expiration. Reports indicate that Barca’s sporting director, Deco, who previously pursued Partey, may attempt to sign him in the upcoming January transfer window.

Partey’s current contract with Arsenal expires next summer, and he has not received any renewal offers, making him an attractive target for other clubs. Barcelona could potentially secure a pre-contract agreement with him in January, allowing them to acquire him for the following season without a transfer fee.

Sources suggest that Arsenal’s hesitance to extend Partey’s contract stems from his high wages and ongoing injury issues.

Despite being a key player recently due to injuries to Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino, Partey may soon become surplus to the club’s needs.

With midfield options like Declan Rice, Jorginho, and promising talent Ethan Nwaneri already in place, along with possible new signings, Arsenal might be inclined to let Partey depart at the end of the season.
