Ruben Amorim has reassured Manchester United fans that details about his future will be revealed soon, with an announcement regarding his potential move to Old Trafford appearing imminent.
During a press conference on Thursday, the 39-year-old Portuguese coach addressed the speculation surrounding his situation and suggested a final decision is nearing. While he is reportedly close to joining United, fans might need to wait a bit longer for official confirmation.
“I understand why [journalists] are here to discuss this; it’s natural, but we’ll leave that for after the game,” Amorim said ahead of Sporting’s league match against Estrela Amadora. “After the game, I’ll clarify everything,” he added.
“It’s a negotiation between two clubs,” Amorim noted, recognizing the complexities involved. “It’s never straightforward—even with clauses. But after the game, there will be clarity. Just one more day, and the decision will be made.”
His message to reporters was straightforward: “I promise, by the end of the game, I’ll explain everything. Right now, discussing this would distract the team. My focus, and the team’s, is on the game.”
Throughout United’s pursuit of him, Amorim has remained professional, concentrating on Sporting’s performance. He recently led his team to a 3-1 win over Nacional in the Taca da Liga, and tomorrow’s match could see Sporting maintain their perfect league record with ten wins out of ten.
According to The Telegraph, Sporting is expected to announce their agreement with United today. However, it seems Amorim will remain in charge for Sporting’s next three matches, including a Champions League game against Manchester City on November 5.
If everything proceeds as anticipated, Amorim could join United after the international break, possibly making his debut against Ipswich Town on November 24.
