Federico Chiesa breaks silence on Liverpool debut as Darwin Nunez makes cryptic social media update

Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus during the summer transfer window, and the Italy international made his debut in a 3-1 victory against AC Milan on Tuesday night.

After his first match in a Liverpool shirt, Chiesa shared his thoughts on social media, celebrating the occasion following his late summer transfer. The 26-year-old came on as a substitute in the Champions League clash, where Liverpool secured a comeback victory at San Siro after initially trailing due to an early goal from Christian Pulisic. Ibrahima Konate equalized soon after, and Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai later added goals, ensuring a significant win.

Post-match, Chiesa joined his teammates in sharing celebratory posts online. His Instagram post, featuring highlights from the night, garnered over 300,000 likes within eight hours. He captioned it, “Happy to make my debut with @liverpoolfc! Great win in San Siro! #uefachampionsleague.”

The post drew over 2,000 comments, including congratulations from fellow player Konstantinos Tsimikas and supportive emojis from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai.

In contrast, Darwin Nunez, who replaced Diogo Jota in the second half, shared a mysterious match image on Instagram without a caption before making his account private.

Nunez has not yet started a competitive match under manager Arne Slot, leading to speculation about his future at the club. He previously removed all images of himself in a Liverpool kit from his feed, retaining only photos from his time at Benfica and with Uruguay.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk celebrated his own achievement of reaching 50 Champions League appearances. He shared this milestone on social media and emphasized the importance of consistency for Liverpool in his post-match comments, stating, “You have to stay fit and be ready for the next game, whether you start or not.”
