FINALLY: Liverpool Makes The First Signing Of The Summer.

Liverpool are preparing for their first signing under Arne Slot, though fans will need to wait another year to see goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili at Anfield.

The Georgian international, who impressed during this summer’s European Championship, has reportedly agreed to join Liverpool in a deal valued at around £34 million. However, the 23-year-old will stay with Valencia for the upcoming La Liga season and will move to Merseyside next summer. Mamardashvili has been with Valencia since 2021 after progressing through Dinamo Tbilisi’s ranks.

Liverpool’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, is contracted until 2026, but there has been ongoing speculation about the future of his backup, Caoimhin Kelleher. The Irish international, who has proven reliable in Cup matches, is 25 and seeking more regular playing time, leading to transfer rumors.

Despite being the only Premier League club yet to make a new signing this window, head coach Arne Slot has minimized concerns, suggesting that the lack of additional signings before the deadline should not be a major issue for the club.
