Pep Lijnders secures another talented Liverpool prospect and outmaneuvers Barcelona in the process.
Liverpool is sending another promising young player from Melwood to Pep Lijnders and Red Bull Salzburg. Holding midfielder Stefan Bajcetic will join Bobby Clark in Austria on a loan deal, aimed at helping him regain his form after spending nearly the entire last season recovering from a serious injury.
Liverpool appears close to signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus, but some fans might critique the team for continuing to offload midfielders despite needing them. However, it could be beneficial for Bajcetic’s development to be at a place where he is likely to get regular playing time, especially after such a long recovery period.
For those concerned about Liverpool’s transfer activity, it could be worse. Barcelona reportedly tried to hijack the loan move due to an injury to one of their own young players. Unfortunately, Barcelona could not finalize the deal, allowing Pep to be reunited with Bajcetic. Personally, I’d prefer to lose out on a loan to an Austrian team than miss out entirely.
We wish Stefan Bajcetic well and hope he stays healthy and returns to the form that once had him potentially replacing a still-formidable Fabinho.
