Mohamed Salah has finally addressed his future at Liverpool:
The news has left fans anxious. His contract with Liverpool expires at the end of this season, having joined the club in June 2017.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and club captain Virgil van Dijk will also be out of contract after the 2024/25 season, heightening concerns that Liverpool could lose three key players for free.
Salah’s recent comments about his contract negotiations have intensified these concerns. In an interview with Sky Sports, the 32-year-old said, “I’m focused on enjoying the season and not thinking about the contract or the future. It’s important to take things one day at a time and appreciate being here.”
Fans expressed their worries on X, with one writing, “The signing of Chiesa makes me think this could be Salah’s last season. Maybe Allison too.” Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “It seems over. I hope he can achieve something significant with us this season before potentially leaving.”
Some believe Salah might be waiting to evaluate his performance before making a decision. One fan suggested, “At 32, Salah is still in great shape, but players who rely on pace can decline quickly. He might want to be certain he can perform at the highest level before extending his contract.”
Another fan noted that Liverpool’s performance under new manager Arne Slot could influence Salah’s decision, stating, “If the team is in a title race by February and a contract proposal is made, he might sign. But if the team is mid-table, the top players might leave.”
Salah has made 351 appearances for Liverpool, contributing over 300 goals or assists during his time at the club.
