Liverpool started poorly against Wolves on Saturday, despite coming off three consecutive wins in different competitions.
Given Wolves’ position at the bottom of the Premier League and their search for a first victory, Liverpool was expected to dominate. However, they struggled early on, and Wolves could have taken the lead with a bit more confidence.
Ibrahima Konate scored his second goal of the season, showcasing his form with a powerful header from a Diogo Jota cross. Although the team had a tough first half, Jota stood out as one of the best players, demonstrating his skill by assisting Konate.
Commentator Andy Reid noted he was surprised by Jota’s choice to use his left foot for the cross.
“Jota’s lovely play on the left surprised everyone; we expected him to cut inside, but his left-foot cross was perfect for Konate,” remarked the former winger.
Despite Liverpool’s overall struggles, Jota stood out as the most effective forward, especially with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah underperforming.
Manager Arne Slot would have been displeased with the team’s performance, but Jota’s assurance highlighted why he’s currently the first choice, particularly in Darwin Nunez’s absence.
