Mohamed Salah’s daughter could have the final influence on the Liverpool forward’s future.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is said to be ‘eager’ to extend his time at Anfield, with his current contract set to expire next summer.

Despite a stellar start to the season, including a standout performance in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United where he scored and provided two assists, Salah has not yet been offered a new contract.

After the match, he informed Sky Sports that he might be in his final season with the club.

“Honestly, I had a good summer,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I had plenty of time to reflect and stay positive because, as you know, it’s my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it and not overthink it. I feel free to play football and we’ll see what happens next year.”

When former teammate Daniel Sturridge pressed him for clarification, Salah added: “To be honest, I was thinking before the game that it could be my last time playing at Old Trafford.

The club hasn’t spoken to me about a new contract yet, so I’ll finish this season and see what happens at the end.”

Despite these comments suggesting Salah might leave Liverpool on a free transfer, reports indicate that he is keen to stay at Anfield.

The Liverpool ECHO reveals that Salah is determined to remain with Liverpool, a year after Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad attempted to sign him for $197 million (£150 million).

Liverpool turned down the offer in summer 2023, as they didn’t have enough time to find a replacement. Although Salah will be 33 at the start of the 2025/26 season, he remains in excellent form.

The ECHO also notes that Salah’s family is well settled in Liverpool, with sources indicating that Salah’s daughter is considered a part of the city, reinforcing his desire to stay.
