Player has ‘refused’ to renew Liverpool deal, club will move in to sign him

Liverpool is facing a major challenge as they approach the next season. They need to address the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the most pressing issue being the deal with their vice-captain.

Trent, only 25, has aspirations of becoming Liverpool’s captain, is a product of their academy, and has a promising future ahead.

What he offers is hard to replace, and Liverpool will be eager to extend his current contract.

However, according to today’s edition of SPORT [image at the end], Real Madrid is preparing to target Trent next summer. The fact that he has not yet agreed to a new contract suggests he may be looking to choose his next destination.

Real Madrid has two aging right-backs, Dani Carvajal (32) and Lucas Vázquez (33), both of whom will be a year older next season. Thus, acquiring a young right-back like Trent Alexander-Arnold would be a strategic move for the Spanish club.

While the report suggests that Trent’s hesitation to renew his Liverpool contract might indicate his desire to leave, it’s also possible that he and Liverpool are still negotiating and are close to finalizing a new deal.

Ultimately, the situation will become clear only when either Trent signs a new contract with Liverpool or the club officially announces that he will not extend his stay beyond his current deal.

For now, Liverpool fans remain hopeful that Trent will commit to a new contract and stay with the club. However, the 25-year-old’s future remains uncertain, and only time will reveal how it will unfold.
