Real Madrid Eyeing Jeremie Frimpong as Summer 2025 Target

Real Madrid made notable moves during the 2024 summer transfer window, acquiring high-profile players like Endrick and Kylian Mbappé. These acquisitions were expected, as the club is already strategizing for a major revamp in the summer of 2025, particularly aiming to enhance their defense.

Next year’s transfer window is set to be critical, with Real Madrid looking to reinforce key defensive roles, specifically at left back, center back, and right back.

Players such as Álvaro Fernández, Antonio Silva, and Alphonso Davies are reportedly under consideration to fill these spots.

Additionally, Real Madrid is linked to Bayer Leverkusen’s standout right midfielder Jeremie Frimpong, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

Frimpong has been a key performer for Leverkusen and has a €40 million release clause that becomes active in the summer of 2025, making him an appealing option for the club.

His offensive capabilities have drawn parallels to former Real Madrid player Achraf Hakimi, who enjoyed success at Dortmund before moving to Inter Milan and PSG.

While Hakimi didn’t realize his full potential at Madrid, signing Frimpong could present a new opportunity to acquire a dynamic right-back.

Real Madrid is also keeping an eye on Leverkusen’s talented midfielder Florian Wirtz, but Frimpong’s role addresses an immediate need in defense, especially with Dani Carvajal out due to a season-ending injury.

Despite Frimpong’s offensive focus, some doubt his ability to replicate the defensive strengths of Hakimi, who was once viewed as a Ballon d’Or contender.

At 23, Frimpong has an impressive tally of 17 goals and 14 assists in the past two seasons. Ideally, he would complement Carvajal rather than serve as a direct substitute.

However, Real Madrid’s ideal target for the right-back position remains Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will be a free agent next summer.

As the 2025 transfer window nears, Real Madrid is assessing various options to strengthen their squad, with Jeremie Frimpong emerging as a key target.
