Zlatan Ibrahimovic: AC Milan legend and Man Utd icon makes his feelings clear on Liverpool

AC Milan icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who previously played for Manchester United, has expressed his respect for Liverpool ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash with the Italian club.

Now serving as an advisor for AC Milan, Ibrahimovic, 42, saw his son’s AC Milan U19 team draw 0-0 with Liverpool earlier in the day.

Ibrahimovic had two stints with Milan and retired from football with the club last year.

“We’re facing a great team with considerable experience,” Ibrahimovic said on Amazon Prime before the match. “They have a new coach and a few new players, but largely they have the same strong squad from last year.”

Arne Slot echoed a similar sentiment at his Monday press conference: “No manager or team fears playing against Milan, but we have deep respect for their quality, players, and history.

Tijjani Reijnders, a Dutch player who has been impressive here and with the national team, is a standout example.

Milan’s recent 4-0 win shows they are in form, and while we respect them greatly, ‘fear’ is not the right term.”
